Jasper, like agate, is a variety of opaque cryptocrystalline quartz. Its color range is red, green, brown and yellow. There are few stone bottles decorated with camels as part of the scene, probably as someone once remarked in the 1920's, because the camel is one of the few depictions where art improves on nature. In this charming rendition, the picture is completed with the sleeping bear seemingly unconcerned by the camel and its rider ambling along.
