OPAQUE BROWN, CARVED WITH RAISED PANELS

Glass, of flattened circular shape, of opaque brown tone, carved on the front and reverse with raised circular panels, with shoulders sloping to a cylindrical neck, the sides carved with raised oval panels and with an oval foot.

Whilst this bottle is not the quality of the monochrome glass bottles which emanated from the Palace Workshops during the same period, it illustrates well the level of workmanship that was quickly being achieved in the glass factories in Beijing as snuff bottles became more popular during the late eighteenth century.
