Many porcelain bottles were produced in the nineteenth century which depicted scenes from popular classics such as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms or the Monkey King. This bottle is particularly finely enameled, using the famille rose palette with the addition of white enamel on a white background. This was very hard to achieve to any effect and is rarely found on any porcelain wares let alone a snuff bottle of this period.
